The wine dinner series travels to South Africa — Méthode Cap Classique, Old Vine Chenin Blanc from some of the oldest productive vineyards in the world, and Pinotage, the country's signature grape. Reception at four, dinner at five. Twenty-four guests.

Albert Hotel
An evening of rare wines in the presidential suite at Albert Hotel. Guided by Andre Boada. Some bottles don't travel. They get opened once, in the right room, for the right people. On Wednesday, September 9, VinoCadre takes over the presidential suite at Hotel Albert for one evening — and opens the cellar. This isn't a walk-through of what's on the shelf. Andre is pouring verticals: the same wine, current vintage set beside bottles going back fifteen years, side by side in the same lineup. You'll taste what a decade and a half actually does to a wine — not read about it. Expect large formats. Expect a few bottles that rarely leave the rack. Live guitar. Food throughout the evening. A sale sheet, so anything that stops you can come home with you. Three access times, capped — so the room stays a room, not a crowd. 4:00–6:00 PM · 6:00–8:00 PM · 8:00–10:00 PM $50 per person. Tastings at this level typically run double. This one is priced to get the right people in the room. Space is genuinely limited. Each access time closes when it closes. You've heard of blind dates. You know about speed dating. Both involve meeting strangers, making quick judgments, and hoping you don't regret your decisions later. Neither has exactly earned a reputation for being foolproof.
Fortunately, this kind of blind encounter comes with better odds.
The game begins with an expert lesson in blind tasting from two highly experienced sommeliers, Andre Boada and Kristi Mayfield. Then it's your turn to put your new skills to the test in a series of lightning rounds, tasting wines from cloaked bottles and seeing just how much you can figure out without the label giving anything away.
Bring your best instincts, your sharpest palate, and perhaps a healthy willingness to second-guess yourself. Collaboration and teamwork are encouraged—although there may be a little friendly competition along the way.
You'll leave with a few new tasting skills, a little more confidence at the table, and, ideally, some new company. No awkward follow-up text required.

The founder
Raised by European parents in Napa Valley, Andre grew up understanding wine as an inherent part of gathering well. After building a career in Napa and Sonoma and earning his Advanced Sommelier certification, he launched VinoCadre in 2015 — expanding from St. Helena, California to Fredericksburg in 2020. The depth is his. The ease is yours to borrow.
